Quick Tip: FireFox 3.5 Bookmarks Toolbar Changed

After constant nagging by the pop-up message, I finally upgraded to FireFox 3.5.7. I see very little difference except the loss of a favorite add-on called CSS-Viewer and the ability to drag a url onto my bookmarks toolbar.  The add-on will no doubt be upgraded so I figured I could wait. However I was surprised that the drag and drop was not working. I had become used to the convenience of dropping unfinished articles or references for future posts. Luckily, it seems the feature is there but the mechanics changed in the 3.5 release!

Old way:
Highlight the url of the webpage or blog post and drag it to where you want to insert the bookmark. Drop.

New way for 3.5:
Mouse over the favicon on the left of the url in the browser window. Drag it to the spot you want on the toolbar. Drop.

No clue as to why the developers decided to do this. Just be warned. And if you don’t drag and drop now, try it!
